Position Summary:
The VP of Balance Sheet Strategy will collect, interpret and communicate data for the development of market reports and strategic recommendations on particular balance sheet alignments for their organizations. They also create financial models that communicate market trends and factors that can affect items such as the credit union's interest rate risk position, investment strategies, capital markets, liquidity.

What you will do:
  • Assist/present monthly reports to the Chief Financial Officer and/or board of directors and senior management.
  • Participate in setting deposit and loan rates.
  • Assist long term strategy choices for capital equipment or other capital asset expenditures.
  • Develop and maintain complex computer-based analyzes and reports of credit union accounting records on a regular basis.
  • Provide direction for planning model runs.
  • Conduct special accounting studies, analyzes, and special projects as requested by management.
  • Manage the allocation and investment of cash/funds to optimize rate of return and compliance with governing regulations.
  • Make recommendations for investments consistent with prevailing economic conditions,
  • the credit union's assets/liability mix, and the credit union's goals of safety, liquidity, and yield.
  • Monitor the credit union's investment portfolio as needed to assure timely investment decisions as investments mature.

  • Direct the purchasing and sale of government bonds or other acceptable securities.
  • Arrange deposit agreements with corporate credit unions or designated reserve banks and directs placement of funds to fulfill agreements.
  • Review consolidated financial statements to identify financial position and adjustments and strategies in order to obtain specified financial ratios.
  • Provide management with timely investment reports and board members with information about credit union investments.
  • Advise on work with partner to devise and recommend various capital market transactions and financial structures including loan pool sales, loan participations, purchases and acquisitions.
  • Evaluating financial products within capital markets and assessing potential gains
  • Analyzing financial risk factors and implementing risk management products like derivatives
  • Tracking capital markets daily to stay updated on current trends, price changes and other market activities
  • Organizing stock market data into charts, graphs and financial reports
  • Preparing presentations for senior management, shareholders and clients to communicate capital market trends, investment opportunities, risks and other important data
What you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline Required
  • 4-6 years Experience in a financial analytical role. Direct experience with accounting and cost accounting. Required
  • 4-6 years Experience in an investment banking environment. Required
  • 4-6 years Experience and understanding of accounting principles Required
  • 4-6 years Experience as an Investment Analyst or related role Required
  • 4-6 years Experience in a financial analysis or compensation analysis role. Required
  • 4-6 years Experience in bank compliance and risk management Required
  • 4-6 years Experience in the financial services industry. Required
  • 4-6 years 5+ years of work experience in Corporate Treasury, Markets/Treasury products, or financial and banking experience including knowledge on economic, statistical and financial analytical techniques and all related experience. Required
  • 1-3 years Experience with balance sheet management and ALM techniques, especially modelling of NIR, NIM and Returns Metrics is highly preferred Required
  • 4-6 years Broad understanding of regulatory bank policies, and preferable knowledge of Balance Sheet, interest rate and liquidity management Required
  • 1-3 years Broad understanding of Funds Transfer pricing methodology, Balance Sheet management are not required, but preferable; Preferred
  • Strong Communication Skills required (High proficiency)
  • Planning and Forecasting Excellence (High proficiency)
  • Strong critical thinking skills (High proficiency)
  • Familiarity with financial and banking structure data is preferred (Medium proficiency)
  • Must have strong math acumen (High proficiency)
  • Strong financial and analytical skills. (High proficiency)
  • Basic understanding of corporate finance (Medium proficiency)
  • Solid analytical and data management skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) (High proficiency)
  • Capital Markets Securities Analyst (CMSA) Preferred
