As theFilm Development Team Leader, you will be a vital member of the PPG Advanced Surface Technologies (AST) technical team working on-site at our facility in New Albany, Ohio. Reporting directly to the Global Technical Director, AST you will collaborate to expand our lab-scale capability for formulating, manufacturing, and testing films. You will utilize Sigma logic methodology for design of experiments and data analysis. Focusing on collaborating with teams in the USA and Germany to develop and implement a process for assessing films against established and developing customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, manufacture, and test new film formulations to meet customer requirements.
Lead a team of 6+ professionals dedicated to formulating, manufacturing, and testing experimental films.
Ideate, develop projects with a high degree of technical competence.
Plan, direct, and conduct experimental work to meet project goals and timelines.
Interact with global development labs, research teams, marketing teams, production teams, and customers to lead projects forward.
Provide support for customer and production-related issues.
Communicate and share knowledge within the team and with collaborators.
Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook and ensure a safe and clean work area is maintained.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of industrial experience.
Previous supervisory experience leading a team of 6 or more.
Knowledge of film manufacturing equipment is advantageous.
Experience specifying new manufacturing and testing equipment is advantageous.
Familiarity with common coatings/film testing procedures.

Salary range based on experience. Base salary $112,000 - 137,000 plus annual bonus
