Research Assistant - Brain-Gut Interactions Research

We are seeking a Research Assistant

A research position is available immediately for a Research Associate with experience in rodent models and basic behavioral neuroscience techniques (e.g., tests of cognitive or emotional behaviors, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, brain cell isolation and gene expression analyses). Dr. Michael Bailey is investigating mechanisms by which gut microbes and mucosal immune responses impact brain development after devastating pediatric diseases and conditions, including necrotizing enterocolitis or exposure to stress in utero.

Responsibilities

What Will You Be Doing?

    Perform research experiments in rodent models
  • Collect data and maintain accurate logs
  • Analyze data and summarize for use in publications
  • Perform laboratory procedures such as immunohistochemistry, real-time PCR, ELISA, Western blot
  • Ensure accuracy of laboratory analytical procedures as required by specific research projects
  • Assist in ordering supplies needed to conduct research and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Qualifications

What Are We Looking For?

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess these minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of science: Biological Sciences (Neuroscience, Behavioral Neuroscience, Microbiology, Immunology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology) or related field.
  • Desire to pursue a career in biomedical research, and knowledge of the research process.
  • Experience with assessing animal behavior or conducting brain immunohistochemistry/immunoflourescence.
  • Experience handling laboratory animals.
